Outbound documents may be delivered by several methods, depending upon the document type, the recipients capabilities and preferences.
For human readable formats, the most common delivery methods are print, email or fax. For most documents Email provides the most cost effective method of delivery, followed by Fax and then Postage.
For electronic data formats (computer readable) documents are usually encoded into an agreed standard. These can vary depending upon the recipient however XML or CSV structures are the most common, being used by most EDI type interfaces. The data is then delivered by transfer processes such as FTP or sometimes as email attachements.
